The challenge
We developed the title lettering and in-film typographic world for Valley Road, written and directed by Saudi filmmaker Khalid Fahad and produced by Ithra. The main title treatment was designed to reflect the spirit of the journey and the atmosphere of the mountain village in which the story unfolds, while complementing the film’s emotional and imaginative world and the transformative journey of its young protagonist, Ali. The film was released in Saudi cinemas in July 2023 following its premiere at the Red Sea International Film Festival.
The idea
Our contribution extended into the film’s visual environment through bespoke lettering for the station and police center, as well as the development of the comic book carried by the protagonist. Each element was created specifically for the production to feel authentic to the story’s setting and period, helping build a cohesive visual world with a distinctive local character.
